Connecting Gmail
Honestly: this is the least smooth connection we have. Google lets apps into Gmail with one click only after an annual security assessment; that is on the roadmap. Until then it works with an app password, and that is five minutes of work.
Steps
- Open your Google account (myaccount.google.com/security). 2-Step Verification must be on; switch it on if it is not.
- Go to App passwords, create one named Personal Bot, and copy the sixteen characters.
- On your page, under Integrations → Mail: your Gmail address at
email.address, the app password atemail.app_password. Leave the host fields empty.
What it can do
Read what the triage and the briefing need, and on request put a draft in your Drafts folder. Nothing more. Our software has no path that sends mail, even though the password would technically allow it; that is a choice in the code, and the reason we are open about it here.
Revoking
Delete the app password in your Google account; the connection stops at once. On your page, Disconnect deletes what the connection kept.
